Recently, Tata Technologies stated that it indeed suffered a ransomware attack in which some IT services temporarily shut down. This has since been restored. Tata Technologies said all its client services were not hit by the incident. It continues to investigate into the cause and is working on strengthening security for future occurrences.
In addition to this, Tata Technologies has urged more investment in training programs to prepare India’s workforce for Industry 4.0. This request is made by the company as it submits its suggestions ahead of the Union Budget.
India’s goal to become a $5 trillion economy requires policies that support innovation and new technologies for product development, “In India, for India, and the world,” CEO Warren Harris stated. He mentioned smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and software-defined vehicles as some of the key enablers in achieving economic growth. He again emphasized research, skill development, and improved infrastructure should be addressed well by the government.
Tata Technologies advised the government should spend more on training programs pertaining to Industry 4.0. This will prepare the workforce to work with advanced technologies like AI, IoT, and cybersecurity, among others.
Ransomware is a type of cyberattack in which hackers lock a company’s data and demand money to unlock it. These types of attacks have been increasing in recent years. In fact, a recent report showed that ransomware cases in 2024 increased by 55% compared to the year before. India ranks second in the Asia-Pacific region for ransomware attacks, and the manufacturing industry is one of the most targeted sectors.
