Microsoft launches Windows 365 Link, a cloud-based PC

Kochi, 20 November 2024

A new Microsoft device called Windows 365 Link was introduced by the company during the Microsoft Ignite 2024 event. Unlike regular computers, which store data and run programs locally, this is a first cloud-based PC from Microsoft. Its design is small and lightweight, just like Apple’s Mac mini, but it has its own set of features. According to Microsoft, Windows 365 Link is equipped with the capability to deliver a secure and seamless experience for work, particularly for companies, and also reduce work used in managing the devices.

What are the key features of Windows 365 Link?

Windows 365 Link comes with several important features:

  • It can support dual 4K monitors for a high-quality display.
  • The machine has four USB ports, an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 to easily hook various devices.
  • It works pretty well on video calls and Microsoft Teams meetings, so it is not bad for online work.
  • One of its best features is certainly security. The OS is locked down, so it does not store any kind of data or apps on the device. It thus becomes safer because there is a less possibility of hackers entering the system.

How much does it cost and when will it be available?

The Windows 365 Link will start shipping in April 2025, priced at $349. So, users who have a little patience can sign up for the preview program before its official release date, and that can be done prior to December 15, 2024. In the preview, the service will be available in some countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan though, it has yet to be announced as to availability for India.

The Windows 365 Link is designed to make it easier for people to work more efficiently and securely, especially in business environments that require devices to be safely managed.
