Honeywell reported its satellite Attitude Control System products for space-based communications have been selected for use by MDA Space Ltd., a provider of advanced technology and services to the rapidly expanding global space industry. Honeywell’s technology will be part of MDA AURORATM, an industry-leading product line driving the transition from analog to digital satellite technology, including in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations.

Through the strategic relationship, Honeywell will provide Reaction Wheel Assemblies, 3-Axis Space Rate Sensors and Magnetometer Unit products for satellite Attitude Control Systems to MDA Space. Honeywell’s Attitude Control System products offer a comprehensive control and steering solution for satellites that maintain proper altitude and position of space vehicles. This technology is essential for effective signal communication and solar power generation to keep the satellites operating efficiently.

With the integration of Honeywell’s technology, MDA AURORATM will support product deliveries for anchor customer Telesat’s LEO satellite constellation Telesat Lightspeed, an innovative, advanced global network that will bring enterprise-class connectivity to customers worldwide.

“Our relationship with MDA Space highlights our commitment to innovation in the rapidly expanding LEO satellite industry,” said Marina Mississian, Senior Director, Global Space Systems, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “As we build on our more than 50 years of space technology heritage, our work with MDA Space is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space-based communication systems, helping create solutions that meet the evolving needs of the satellite industry for years to come.”

Designed to meet the changing technical and business requirements of the satellite industry, the software-defined MDA AURORATM product line provides operators with unparalleled flexibility and functionality, dramatically enhancing constellation performance at reduced cost and time.

Honeywell’s satellite Attitude Control System products selected by MD Space are tailored to “New Space” volume production requirements. The development and selection of these innovative technologies also further supports Honeywell’s alignment of its portfolio to three compelling megatrends, including the future of aviation.
