Iron ore exports from India during April-July period of 2025 fell by around 7% to 16.38 million tonnes. Exports from India was at 17.60 million tonnes in the same period of previous financial year (FY25).
Among major ports, Paradip Port continued to handle the majority portion of iron ore shipments. In the first four months of current financial year (FY26), Paradip Port handled 6.29 million tonnes of iron ore and pellet. This was 29.95% lower than the same period of FY25, when it handled 8.98 million tonnes of iron ore and pellet.
Murmugao Port is another major port in Goa, which also witnessed a fall in iron ore shipments. The port handled 1.05 million tonnes of iron ore and pellet in April-July period of 2025 as compared to 1.22 million tonnes of the commodity handled during the same period last fiscal.
However, Visakhapatnam Port saw an increase in iron ore shipments with handling of 4.27 million tonnes of the commodity as compared to 4.1 million tonnes reported a year ago.
