Accenture has unveiled intentions to acquire CyberCX, Australia, New Zealand, and internationally one of the top privately-owned cybersecurity services firms. This will be Accenture’s biggest cybersecurity acquisition to date, significantly bolstering its strength in the Asia Pacific. The acquisition is designed to assist businesses and governments within the region to enhance resilience, defend critical infrastructure, and deal with emerging cybersecurity threats.

Established in Melbourne in 2019, CyberCX has about 1,400 cybersecurity experts working for it. It provides a number of services, ranging from consulting to transformation, as well as managed security services. Its areas of expertise extend to offensive security testing, threat intelligence, crisis management, identity and cloud security, and cyber physical security. CyberCX operates sophisticated security operations centers in Australia and New Zealand, while also having offices in London and New York, providing it with both local knowledge and international presence.

CyberCX also employs AI-based platforms for response and detection, secure cloud, cyber intelligence, and training opportunities through its CyberCX Academy. The tools are likely to support Accenture’s expanding artificial intelligence strength.

Accenture’s State of Cybersecurity Resilience 2025 report last month found that 97% of Australian organisations are not completely ready to protect their AI-powered operations, and 80% fall short of having essential practices to secure data, AI models, and cloud environments. The acquisition of CyberCX is timely to fill these gaps.

Both company executives spoke about their common purpose. Paolo Dal Cin, Accenture’s Global Cybersecurity Lead, stated the alliance will leverage Accenture’s AI innovation with CyberCX’s well-established relationships and strong local market presence, delivering a strategic benefit to clients.

CyberCX collaborates with top cybersecurity technology partners such as Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, and CrowdStrike, and has over 2,600 industry certifications. Its performance has seen the company named among the region’s top managed service providers.

Peter Burns, the Australia and New Zealand lead for Accenture, commented that demand for cybersecurity is increasing rapidly with the increasingly interconnected digital landscapes, the changing nature of threats, and advancements in AI and quantum technologies. He also stated that the combined strength of Accenture and CyberCX will be able to meet the increasing demands of clients in the region.

CyberCX chief executive John Paitaridis said the acquisition will enable the business to provide more customers and grow more rapidly while continuing its objective of being in front of next-generation threats.

The acquisition is conditional on customary regulatory approvals and financial terms were not revealed.
