Steps to success as an AI Engineer in the technology world

Over the past few years, top IT firms in India, including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Wipro, have taken great leaps in hiring more women into their workforce. These firms are at the forefront of driving gender diversity, with more women being placed in tech jobs and leadership roles.

Women in India’s Top IT Companies

According to the 2024 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 Report, India’s largest three IT companies are going that extra mile for women, and their numbers can speak for themselves:

  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India’s leading IT majors, has 34% women working for them, which translates to 214,098 women employees. This is a huge segment of the employee base, reflecting TCS’s dedication to giving equal opportunities for women employment in the field of technology. The efforts by the company to promote more women in tech streams have helped it become one of the leading employers of women talent in India.
  • Infosys, another IT industry leader in India, has 37% women employees and a total of 124,569 women workers in its company. It is the highest percentage of female workers in the Indian big three IT companies. Infosys has made a conscious effort to establish a women-friendly environment by way of leadership development and programs for increasing gender diversity in all departments.
  • Wipro also employs a significant number of women, constituting 35% of its overall workforce of 82,595 employees. Similar to TCS and Infosys, Wipro has achieved considerable improvement in developing female representation in its workforce, especially in technical and managerial positions. The gender diversity emphasis of the company has enabled it to recruit capable women for a diverse array of posts in the IT sector.

The Increasing Trend of Women in IT

These organizations are leading by example for other sectors, especially the technology sector, where women’s presence has been a challenge. By having large numbers of women in their roles, TCS, Infosys, and Wipro are not only making the workplace more inclusive but also changing the dynamics of the technology industry, where women continue to be underrepresented in most regions of the globe.

TCS, Infosys, and Wipro have been at the forefront of empowering women in India’s IT industry. Their efforts center on offering equal opportunities for career development and leadership roles, and in dismantling gender barriers in what has otherwise been a male-dominated field.

The increasing percentage of women workers in Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and Wipro portends a brighter step towards gender equality in the IT industry of India. These companies are forging the path toward a more diversified and inclusive workforce, providing a lead for other firms to follow. With increased numbers of women joining the workforce and holding management positions, India’s IT industry future looks more balanced than ever.
