Kochi, 12 September 2026

Five stocks from the Nifty 500 index , Paytm, Wockhardt, Finolex Cables, Pine Labs, and Jubilant Pharmova,  outperformed the Nifty 500 index during the week ending September 11 despite unfavorable conditions for the stock market owing to strong buying interest from investors.

During the week, the Nifty 500 index saw a decline of more than 1.6%. The reason behind investors’ concerns included increasing crude oil prices, further selling from foreign institutional investors (FIIs), and escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The Nifty 500 index closed Friday’s trading at 22,866.50, marking a fall of 0.37%. The Nifty50 index also recorded a decrease of about 2% during the week and closed at 23,398.10.

1. Paytm

One of the stocks which made good gains during the week was Paytm, whose stocks appreciated almost 9% during the week. Paytm’s stocks were up 4.5% at ₹1,807.50.
Investment firm Bernstein had a favorable outlook for Paytm and believed that it would become more profitable due to the existing business activities of Paytm. Introduction of merchant charges on UPI transactions and merchant lending could prove to be beneficial for Paytm in the coming years. It is reported that Paytm plans to provide AI agents to businesses.

2. Wockhardt

The stocks of Wockhardt gained by 4.3% this week. But the stock closed Friday at ₹2,179.40, down by 2.4%.

The focus of investors is on the Zaynich drug of the company that has been approved by the US FDA. The company is likely to start marketing the drug in coming months this year or early next year.

3. Finolex Cables

Finolex Cables was one of the top gainer stocks this week, with gains exceeding 17%. The stock closed Friday at ₹1,424.

The analysts expect the demand for cables and wires as well as optical fibre cable business to be strong, which might benefit the company. Solar and extra-high voltage cables could also contribute to earnings. However, weak demand and volatility in copper and optical fibre prices might pose threats to earnings.

4. Pine Labs

The share price of Pine Labs increased by 19.5% in the week. The share price increased by 19.1% on Friday alone to ₹202.17.

The company also witnessed very high volume of trades. Pine Labs has recently named Jayaram Karthik as its Chief Operations Officer to oversee operations and merchant experience in India and overseas.

5. Jubilant Pharmova

The share price of Jubilant Pharmova increased by 10.8% in the week. Its closing price on Friday was ₹1,025.20.

More attention was paid by investors to the stocks of healthcare and pharmaceutical companies due to their defensive nature in uncertain market environment.

These were the top performing stocks of the week although the overall market performance remained negative.
