After reporting a strong second quarter results, state-run Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL)’s shares will be on focus on Monday.
The company posted a net profit of Rs 22,502.62 crore in the second quarter of FY27, an increase of 174.7% over the corresponding period of last fiscal year. The public sector company reported a loss of Rs 1,241.09 crore in the first quarter of FY27.
IOCL’s consolidated revenue from operations rose 30% to Rs 2.68 lakh crore in Q2FY27, from Rs 2.06 lakh crore in Q2FY26.
Notably, the central government announced compensation of Rs 14,486 crore towards under-recoveries incurred on the sale of domestic LPG.
“In accordance with the letters, installments for the period from April 2026 to September 2026 aggregating to Rs 7,243.02 crores have been recognized as Revenue from Operations in the books of account and the cumulative net negative buffer has been reduced to that extent,” the company said.
Its domestic sales grew to 23.977 million tonnes during the July- September period from 22.85 million tonnes in the same period of previous fiscal.
However, exports declined to 1.251 million tn in Q2 of FY27 from 1.411 million tn in Q2FY26.
“The current quarter’s profitability was largely driven by a temporary decline in crude oil prices from mid-June to mid-August and robust margins from petrochemical and gas (business),” the company said in an exchange filing.
The company, however, said it might face potential pressure on earnings in the coming quarters.
“However, the profitability in upcoming quarters may be adversely impacted by inventory losses due to a potential fall in crude oil prices with normalisation of the situation in the Middle East,” the company added.
The company’s share price closed 0.20% down at Rs 130.15 on Friday in NSE. IOCL’s share price has declined close to 21.5% so far this year as crude oil prices surged owing to the US-Iran war.
