Iron ore shipments handled by Indian ports during August 2025 stood at 3.46 million tonnes. Shipments during April-August period of ongoing financial year were at 19.84 million tonnes as compared to 21.92 million tonnes handled a year ago. This was 9.5% lower than last year period.

Iron ore shipments for April-July period of 2025 were at 16.38 million tonnes.

Among major ports, Paradip Port continued to handle the majority portion of iron ore shipments. In the first five months of current financial year (April-August of FY26), Paradip Port handled 7.22 million tonnes of iron ore and pellet. During August, Paradip Port handled 0.93 million tonnes of iron ore and pellet vessels.

Visakhapatnam Port handled 5.19 million tonnes of iron ore shipments during April-August period as compared to 5.13 million tonnes reported a year ago. The port handled 0.92 million tonne in August 2025.
