redRail by redBus has announced significant upgrades to its popular WhatsApp Railbot, making train information in India more accessible than ever before. Amongst the first such innovations in the rail travel industry, redRail has introduced a Gen AI-integrated WhatsApp chatbot that responds to natural language, capitalizing on the fact that India boasts one of the highest WhatsApp penetration rates in the world.

By integrating the Railbot directly on this ubiquitous platform, redRail eliminates the need for additional app downloads. Passengers can simply send a message to access real-time updates on PNR status, live train running status, train schedules, coach positions, availability between stations, and even general train knowledge.

Key improvements:
Conversational AI: Users can now ask questions and get responses in simple, contextual language, instead of relying on pre-defined prompts. This intuitive interface allows for a more human-like interaction. Follow-up inquiries are also possible within a 5-minute window, allowing for a comprehensive and convenient user experience. Users can ask highly specific and contextual questions like “Will my train ticket get confirmed?” or “Suggest trains between KSR Bengaluru City Junction and Perambur stations”.

Multilingual Support: The Railbot now understands and responds to queries in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada in phase 1 of the launch and will soon be available in all Indian languages. This ensures everyone can access real-time train information in their preferred language.
New Number for Enhanced Service: The redRail Railbot has transitioned to a new, easy-to-remember number: 8050139139. This number resembles the widely recognized railway helpline 139, which provides basic train information through IVRS. The redRail Railbot can be reached via WhatsApp at https://wa.me/918050139139 or by texting the Railbot number on WhatsApp (8050139139)

Improved Functionality:
PNR Status Queries: Check the confirmation status and other details of your train ticket.

Live Train Status Queries: Get real-time updates on the location and arrival/departure timings of your train.

Trains Between Stations Queries: Plan a journey by finding trains operating between specific stations.

Availability Queries: Check seat availability for upcoming journeys.

Train Schedule Queries: Access timetables for any train.

Coach Position Queries: Locate the train coach within the train upon arrival at the station.

General Train Knowledge: Ask questions about train types, cancellation policies, and more.
