Kochi, 15 September 2026

Indian stocks in the information technology sector registered robust gains early on Tuesday, September 15. This followed Dario Amodei, who is the CEO of Anthropic’s statement on the need for careful monitoring of the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Amodei, although the development of AI is crucial, the associated risks are serious. Therefore, he feels that companies and governments need adequate time to understand the risks involved and address them through proper management.

This view was echoed by leading technologists. In this regard, the CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, together with Elon Musk are of the view that the fast development of advanced AI requires careful handling.

Indian IT Stocks Gain

NIFTY IT Index gained about 5% in early trade with all the 10 stocks listed on it gaining.
The shares of Infosys rose by about 5.38% to ₹1,093.50 on the NSE. Shares of TCS moved up by 5.13% to ₹2,313.70. HCL Technologies shares gained about 6.5% to ₹1,283.70.

Wipro gained by 3.30% to ₹172.93 whereas the shares of Tech Mahindra gained about 5.63% to ₹1,627.70.

Increasing Worries over AI

There has been an increase in worries regarding the threats of AI in the last few months. One AI researcher, who used to work for Anthropic, was quoted by the BBC, stating that the current pace of AI could be dangerous for humanity.

Jacob Coxon stated that those involved in AI firms are afraid of what could happen within the next few years if AI remains developed at the same pace.

AI Shares Plunge Across the World

It was also reflected in the stock market. Stocks of several large AI-related firms plummeted.

NVIDIA’s stocks tumbled approximately by 3%, whereas Broadcom and AMD plunged over 4%. The stocks of Intel fell over 5%, and Marvell Technology went down by over 7%.

Experts of the market think that slowing down the investments in AI could result in both positive and negative consequences. On one hand, lower investment might hurt some technology firms’ bottom line; on the other hand, it would help firms manage their cash flow.

What This Means for Indian IT Firms

Indian IT firms like TCS, Infosys, HCLTech, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and LTM will continue to be in the limelight.

As global organizations cut back on their investment in AI technology, there might be a slowdown in demand for certain IT services. However, the Indian IT firms can also gain from the same as firms try to boost productivity and decrease expenses via automation.

The investors will now watch keenly if the worries about AI affect the budget and business decisions regarding technology. The effect on Indian IT stocks will depend greatly on how the firms strike a balance between AI investment and growth.
