Hero Motors, an automobile parts and technologies solution provider, has disclosed the price band for its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). The cost of a single share has been set at between ₹79 and ₹84. The IPO will be open to public subscription from September 16 to September 18.

Total number of shares to be offered by Hero Motors will be worth ₹1,000 crore. Prior to the opening of the IPO for the general public, allocation to anchor investors will be made on September 15.

The IPO of Hero Motors will be bifurcated into two segments. Fresh Issue of 7.14 crore shares will result in raising of ₹600 crore for the company while Offer for Sale (OFS) of 4.76 crore shares will generate ₹400 crore. The OFS shares will be sold out by the company’s promoters OP Munjal Holdings and Hero Cycles.

Funds generated from the fresh issue will be used in various activities. Hero Motors intends to use the funds to repay its loans. Some money will be spent in acquiring new machinery for increasing production capacity of its unit at Gautam Buddha Nagar. Further, funds might also be utilized in making future acquisitions.

Minimum Share Subscription in Hero Motors IPO

For retail investors, a minimum subscription of 178 shares can be done. In addition to this, multiple shares equal to multiples of 178 can also be done by retail investors.

IPO shares will be allocated amongst various kinds of investors. 50% of shares are kept for QIBs, 35% for retail investors and 15% for non-institutional investors.

Important Dates for IPO

  • Opening of IPO: September 16
  • Closing of IPO: September 18
  • Allotment Date: September 21
  • Refund Date: September 22
  • Credit of Shares into Demat Accounts: September 22
  • Listing Date: September 23

It is expected that the company’s shares will be listed on BSE and NSE on September 23.

Hero Motors is an automobile technology company that designs and produces advanced powertrain systems. These systems find application in two wheelers, e-bike, electric & hybrid car, off-road vehicles, trucks, etc.

Customers of the company include those from India, USA, Europe and ASEAN countries. Global customers of the company include BMW and Ducati, electric bicycle manufacturing companies and other mobility and aerospace companies.

In totality, through this IPO, funds are generated for debt repayment and business expansion.
