Shares of Hero MotoCorp on the radar after announcement of its sales numbers for August, 2026. The stock fell in the NSE on Wednesday.
Despite an increase in the company’s total vehicle dispatches for the month of August, the share price was affected adversely.
Total vehicle dispatches for August by Hero MotoCorp stood at 5,68,398, marking a rise of 2.64% from the figure of 5,53,727 units dispatched in the same month of last year.
This is clear evidence that overall vehicle dispatches remained positive in the month of August.
Scooter dispatches witnessed the largest increment for the month, with Hero MotoCorp dispatching a total of 74,547 scooters in the month of August 2026 against 52,204 in the month of August 2025. This represents a strong YoY increase of 42.8% in scooter dispatches.
On the other hand, motorcycle dispatches saw a decline, with the company dispatching 4,93,851 motorcycles in the month of August 2026 against 5,01,523 motorcycles in August 2025.
Domestic sales did well. The domestic dispatches by Hero MotoCorp rose by 4.4% to 5,42,305 units in August 2026 from 5,19,139 units in August 2025. The company noted that retail sales were healthy, with a 19% increase in VAHAN registrations compared to the prior-year period.
On the other hand, exports declined. Export dispatches declined by 24.6% to 26,093 units, from 34,588 units in August 2025.
The company’s electric mobility brand, VIDA, also continued to do well. In August, the company dispatched 25,558 units and reported 38% growth in VAHAN retail registrations.
Hero MotoCorp said that the strong retail demand would aid sales during the upcoming festive season. The company also believes that its flexible supply chain would help it meet the increase in festive demand.
However, even though there has been overall growth in sales, Hero MotoCorp’s shares have come under pressure. The stock is down around 7% in the last week and around 4% in the last month. On a year-to-date basis, the shares have fallen by around 11%.
Overall, in August, the sales were driven mainly by domestic demand, scooter sales, and growth in VIDA, but motorcycle sales and exports were weak.
