Singapore-based data center company, Digital Edge said that it has raised over $1.6 billion in funds to support future expansion. The money will be sourced from new investments and loans.
The company is a subsidiary of New York-based investment firm Stonepeak, which specializes in infrastructure and real estate. It manages around $70 billion in assets.
This investment of $1.6 billion is said to have raised $640 million from new as well as existing investors; the remaining was raised as loan. The management of Digital Edge will utilize such funding to take its business and meet the constantly increasing demand in Asia for its cloud services, as well as artificial intelligence products.
Founded in 2020, Digital Edge is a leading company in the data center industry. Currently, it owns and operates 21 data centers in Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. These data centers provide more than 500 megawatts of energy, and another 300 megawatts are planned for future development. This expansion will help the company meet the growing needs of its customers in the region.
Digital Edge is investing in this growth to stay ahead of the curve in the digital infrastructure industry and support the increasing demand for cloud services and AI technologies.
