Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S will receive the prestigious ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Samman’ Award (PBSA) on January 9 (Friday) for his contribution to the field of business (IT & Consulting).
Kumar will receive this award from the President of India in Bhubaneswar, where the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is currently being held. A total 27 people will get this year’s award.
The award is the highest honour conferred on non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs). Ravi Kumar is the first Odia CEO to head a Fortune 200 company.
Hailing from Berhampur in Ganjam district of Odisha, he was an excellent studnet from childhood. After a degree in chemical engineering from Shivaji University, he completed his Masters in Business Administration from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
Before heading Cognizant, Kumar held leadership roles in Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys.
