AI chatbots are prevalent these days, providing simple answers through the use of AI. The future of AI, though, is shifting towards something more complex known as agentic AI. Agentic AI differs from chatbots in that it can execute complex tasks and solve problems on its own without constant human intervention.
What is Agentic AI?
Agentic AI is an AI that can perform more than question-answering. It can complete tasks requiring thinking and planning. For instance, rather than simply respond to a query, agentic AI may verify the balance of an account, advise on debt repayment, and even execute the payment once the customer makes a decision. It is making a large amount of decisions based on much data coming from various sources in order to look for solutions and get work done. Companies already apply agentic AI to customer support, medical care, and software coding.
How Does Agentic AI Work?
Agentic AI follows four steps.
It first perceives information by gathering data from various sources such as sensors and digital platforms. It searches for significant details and patterns.
Secondly, it reasons by determining the optimal solution for the job at hand. It formulates a plan on the basis of what it already knows.
Then, it acts by performing the task using software and tools. For instance, it may process claims up to a given level, but larger claims require manual approval.
Lastly, agentic AI learns. It learns over time by taking feedback from its actions and improving its decisions in the future.
Agentic AI is driven by data. It collects and processes vast amounts of data to make decisions. A method known as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) assists the AI in searching and utilizing the correct information. The AI improves with experience over time.
Applications of Agentic AI
Agentic AI can be applied in numerous fields:
- Customer service: It can automate, respond to questions, and enhance service.
- Content creation: AI enables marketing professionals to produce personalized content quickly, leaving time for creative tasks.
- Software development: It eliminates the redundant coding work so that developers have more time to deal with harder problems.
- Healthcare: AI assists physicians by interpreting patient information and performing administrative functions.
- Video analytics: Artificial intelligence processes video feeds from cameras and sensors to assist in tasks such as video search and quality assurance.
