Tech Mahindra Ltd. was in the news on Thursday, October 1. This is because it was announced by the company that it could consider an interim dividend as well as a bonus share offer during its board meeting that was scheduled for late October.
According to a filing by the company, the board of directors will meet on October 15 as well as October 16. During this meeting, a number of important things will be discussed and approved by the board.
One of the proposals includes declaring an interim dividend for financial year 2027. Dividends are payments made to the shareholders of the company from its profit.
Secondly, the board of directors will discuss issuing bonus shares to its shareholders. These are free shares issued to the shareholders according to the number of shares owned by them.
The company will also talk about its second-quarter results. Tech Mahindra declared that its second quarter results will be declared on October 15.
This will be the first time when the company has issued bonus shares since March 2015. In 2015, the company offered one bonus share against each share held by the shareholders.
In the same month, Tech Mahindra also performed share split. One share with face value of ₹10 was split to two shares with face value of ₹5.
Company has also returned money to shareholders through other channels. For instance, in 2019, Tech Mahindra declared share buyback of ₹1,950 crore. Company proposed to buyback its shares for ₹950 each through tender offer process.
Tech Mahindra has a track record of regular dividends payments. In July, company paid ₹36 per share as dividends. This payment was company’s largest dividend payout till now.
Company has made a total of ₹168 per share dividends in last three years. Interim dividends of ₹15 per share were made in October 2025 and October 2024. Final dividends were paid at the rate of ₹30 per share in 2025, ₹28 in 2024 and ₹32 in 2023.
Based on June quarter shareholding pattern, about 7.1 lakh small retail shareholders hold 6.18% equity in the company. Mutual funds hold 19.14%, LIC has 11.1% while foreign portfolio investors hold 18.66%.
Closing price of Tech Mahindra shares in previous trading session saw an increase by 1.5% at ₹1,533.40 per share. However, shares have fallen 6.4% during the last month.
