SBI customers having a BSBD account should pay attention to cash withdrawals starting from October 1, 2026.
According to new policies, customers will be allowed to withdraw up to four cash amounts in a month without being charged. Any withdrawal beyond four will be subjected to a charge of ₹15 plus GST for each subsequent transaction.
New charges will take effect from October 1, 2026.
Free Four Cash Withdrawals Per Month
BSBD account holders will be able to withdraw cash amounts up to four times in a month without facing any charges. The cash withdrawal may be made via SBI ATMs, ATM machines from other banks, SBI branches, or AEPS cash transaction.
Any cash withdrawal made after the fourth in a month will attract a charge of ₹15 plus GST for each transaction.
Zero Minimum Balance Requirement
This BSBD account is a basic savings account that has been designed for saving money in a hassle-free way, with minimal fees.
Customers do not have to maintain any minimum balance in this account, and there is no cap on the amount of money that customers may save in this account.
The BSBD account can be opened by anyone with valid KYC documents at any branch of SBI.
But it does not offer cheque books to its customers. Withdrawals can be made using ATM cards or withdrawing forms at bank branches.
The basic RuPay ATM cum Debit Card is offered by SBI along with the BSBD account.
Who Can Open this BSBD Account?
This BSBD account can be opened by anyone with valid KYC documents at SBI. The account may be opened either individually or jointly.
Customers may also choose different account operating modes like Either or Survivor and Former or Survivor.
Crucial Requirement of the Customer
There is one crucial requirement that exists in case of BSBD accounts. One cannot possess any other savings bank account along with the BSBD account.
In case the customer is having some other savings account, then it is necessary to close it within a period of 30 days from the date of opening of the BSBD account.
The customers need to ensure this crucial requirement before opening a BSBD account.
RuPay Card Free and Other Facilities
There is no charge for getting the RuPay ATM cum debit card. In addition to this, the annual maintenance charge on this card is also free of cost.
There are many other facilities that are being provided under the BSBD account. For instance, there is no charge on transferring money through NEFT/RTGS system.
There is no charge for activating the inactive account. Also, the customer will have to pay no fee for closure of the BSBD account.
The new withdrawal rule is more important for those customers who frequently withdraw their money. Starting from October 1, 2026, they need to restrict their withdrawal transactions to four per month if they do not want to pay ₹15 plus GST charge.
