At CES 2025, Samsung revealed exciting new features coming to its 2025 TV lineup. The company is bringing a popular feature from its smartphones and tablets to its televisions: Live Translate.
Live Translate allows users to see real-time translations for live broadcasts. This means viewers can watch shows or events in different languages and have the text translated instantly. The feature will work in seven languages, although Samsung hasn’t yet confirmed exactly which languages will be included. Right now, the system translates the closed captions on TV broadcasts instead of translating the spoken audio directly.
This translation feature was first introduced in early 2024 with the launch of the Galaxy S24 smartphones, where it supported 13 languages. However, the TV version of Live Translate will launch with fewer languages, but Samsung plans to improve it over time.
Besides Live Translate, another very useful feature is AI-based Voice Removal with Audio Subtitles. It has been specifically designed for the visually impaired. The application will concentrate on the subtitles’ analysis, isolation of voices, and adjusting reading speed to provide a more smooth and effortless viewing experience. It’s aimed at making television more accessible to viewers who have difficulties in reading or hearing.
Both these features will feature the 2025 TV models from Samsung. It is still unclear if this is going to happen to older TV models. No official word from Samsung on the backward compatibility of older sets yet, either.
These new features indicate Samsung’s interest in enhancing the user experience through advanced technology that makes its products more accessible and user-friendly. Whether you’re watching a live event in another language or need help with audio and subtitles, Samsung is working to make TV viewing easier for everyone.
