Nayara Energy has successfully completed its 2026 turnaround as per the schedule at its Vadinar refinery; India’s second largest single site refinery executed towards critical maintenance, upgrades and inspections. Delivered amid a complex geopolitical environment, the turnaround reflects the Company’s operational resilience and its ability to execute large-scale interventions without impacting supply continuity.

Operating in India, for India, Nayara Energy plays a significant role in supporting the country’s energy ecosystem, contributing approximately 8% of India’s total refining capacity and approximately 7% of its retail fuel network, alongside a growing petrochemicals presence. At the core of this capability is the Vadinar refinery, which anchors the Company’s ability to serve domestic consumption requirements at scale. Given the complexity and scale of such operations, periodic turnarounds are among the most critical planned interventions to sustain reliability, safety and long-term performance, making them essential to ensure consistent energy availability for the country.

The 2026 turnaround reflected this operational discipline and was executed through a carefully coordinated, cross-functional approach spanning operations, maintenance, safety, procurement, logistics and workforce management. The exercise involved over 34,000 personnel and deployed approximately 480 units of heavy equipment, including 180 cranes, underscoring both the scale of the operation and the Company’s continued focus on strengthening core infrastructure.

Beyond routine maintenance, the turnaround was also used to strengthen refinery capability and improve operational efficiency. During this period, Nayara Energy implemented several valueenhancement initiatives aimed at improving product quality and enhancing process efficiency. These interventions are also expected to enable longer operating cycles between planned maintenance shutdowns. In parallel, energy conservation measures were introduced across units to optimize consumption and progressively reduce the refinery’s emissions intensity.
Given the intensity of turnaround operations, safety remained a central priority throughout the exercise. Nayara Energy followed a disciplined and structured approach, supported by mandatory taskspecific training, drone-enabled safety communication and strict adherence to established protocols.

The scale of the exercise was supported by strong on-ground systems and technology-enabled coordination, including AI-led crowd movement management for a peak workforce of over 35,000 personnel, the provision of nearly 4.5 lakh meals onsite, and cooling arrangements to support teams working in demanding site conditions.
