Kochi, 19 August 2026

Exide Industries has further infused ₹200 crore in its subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions (EESL). The additional investment has been made by the company on 18th August 2026 by acquiring additional shares on rights basis.

This recent investment marks a step towards Exide Industries’ broader plan of establishing itself as a manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries in India. In January, the company approved a further investment of up to ₹1,400 crore in EESL.

The investment will be made for setting up a greenfield lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in India which will be a multi-gigawatt project. The investment could be made in one or more tranches.

With this latest ₹200 crore investment, the total investment made by Exide Industries in Exide Energy Solutions has risen to ₹5,102.23 crore. It has also been mentioned that the shareholding of Exide Industries in EESL has remained unchanged due to the most recent investment.

Exide Industries stated that growth was seen across all the major segments of the company, and all segments posted double-digit growth against the same period of last year.
