Wealth creation in the hands of super rich is growing each passing year with 15 individuals now having fortunes of $100 billion or more, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index said.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the combined net worth of the top 15 richest people now stands at $2.2 trillion.
The founder and Chief Executive officer of LVMH (Louis Vuitton-Moët-Hennessy), Bernard Arnault, 75, leads the pack with a net worth of $222 billion. He derives most of his wealth from his stake in the world’s largest luxury-good maker.
Jeff Bezos,60, Founder of Amazon.com Inc ranks second with a net worth of $208 billion. Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk, 52, is ranked third in the index with a net worth of $187 billion.
Among Asians, Gautam Adani again joined the 100 billion-dollar club. Adani Group companies’ shares have recovered after a short-seller attack in 2023. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries is another prominent Indian, who has been in the $100 billion club for quite some time now.
L’Oreal SA heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, Dell Technologies Inc. founder Michael Dell, and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim are other business persons to cross the $100 billion mark this year.
Facebook Founder, Mark Zuckerberg is placed at number four with a net worth of $168 billion. Larry Page, co-founder of Google is in the fifth place with $155 billion. Microsoft Founder, Bill Gates has a net worth of $154 billion, who is ranked in sixth place in the rich club. Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google is ranked seventh with a total asset of $146 billion.
Steve Ballmer with a net asset of $146 billion, is at the eighth spot. Ace investor Warren Buffet is at ninth place with a net worth of $137 billion. Larry Ellison, the cofounder of Oracle is placed at 10th place with a net worth of $137 billion.
