Recently, Apple acquired a new company called Pixelmator, famous for making successful image editing applications. Since its inception in 2007 in Lithuania, the firm has been able to come up with a number of successful apps, such as Pixelmator, Pixelmator Pro, and Photomator. In Pixelmator’s blog post: “Pixelmator has entered into an agreement for sale to Apple; acquisition subject to the approval of antitrust authorities. As there will be no material impact on Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator.”
Pixelmator has built apps for iOS and Mac, and the company is often mentioned by Apple when it unveils its products. It described its feelings towards Apple saying, “We’ve been inspired by Apple since day one, crafting our products with a strong focus on design, user-friendliness, and performance.”.
The company is happy to see a bright future. They said that what is done by a few small team members in Vilnius, Lithuania was big, and recent cooperation with Apple brings even bigger hopes of having even more users and increasing impact on creative people globally.
Since nothing has been publicly said on the matter, Apple has kept it under wraps. It is also one such company that buys small-scale companies instead of huge deals. Some of the recent big deals acquired by the big companies include the Dark Sky weather application in 2020 and the automation application Workflow in 2017.
This takeover might bring many exciting things for users of Pixelmator as a whole. The great resources of Apple may make it so that Pixelmator upgrades its apps and will be able to reach more people. Well, at least for the time being, the users will not be bothered with changed features in their Pixelmator apps.
