India’s textile industry is projected to reach a value of US$350 billion by 2030 and create 35 million jobs, according to Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh. He made this announcement during the Curtain Raiser event for ‘Bharat Tex 2025’ in New Delhi. Singh also expressed optimism that India would gain international recognition for its ‘Bharat’ brand and its commitment to green, sustainable textile products.
Minister Singh asserted that the Union Government’s PLI scheme for textiles will enable the apparel industry to boost production and promote its branding. The Minister also added that the PLI scheme will enable the linking of the textile value chain and lure FDI in the country.
The Minister emphasised that the Indian demographic dividend will aid India’s growth ahead of China and urged the state governments to equally participate in the event. “With innovation, collaboration, and the Make in India spirit at its core, this event is an embodiment of the 5F vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister- Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign”, he added.
The Bharat Tex exhibition will showcase a diverse range of products including apparel, home furnishings, floor coverings, fibers, yarns, threads, fabrics, carpets, silk, textile handicrafts, and technical textiles. The event will also feature a retail High Street, highlighting opportunities in India’s fashion retail market. Additionally, there will be exhibitions on handicrafts and apparel machinery, as well as displays of ethnic wear, held at the sister venue, India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida.
