Exide Industries has further infused ₹200 crore in its subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions (EESL). The additional investment has been made by the company on 18th August 2026 by acquiring additional shares on rights basis.
This recent investment marks a step towards Exide Industries’ broader plan of establishing itself as a manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries in India. In January, the company approved a further investment of up to ₹1,400 crore in EESL.
The investment will be made for setting up a greenfield lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in India which will be a multi-gigawatt project. The investment could be made in one or more tranches.
With this latest ₹200 crore investment, the total investment made by Exide Industries in Exide Energy Solutions has risen to ₹5,102.23 crore. It has also been mentioned that the shareholding of Exide Industries in EESL has remained unchanged due to the most recent investment.
Exide Industries FY27 Q1 Earnings
Exide Industries reported impressive growth in its quarterly earnings for FY27. The net profit after tax grew 28% year-on-year to ₹350 crore.
The revenue from operations for the company also saw an uptick during the April-June quarter. It grew 18% to ₹5,528 crore from ₹4,695 crore in the same quarter last year.
EBITDA of Exide Industries grew 15% to ₹621 crore compared with ₹538 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year. However, the margin came down to 11.23% from 11.46%.
Exide Industries stated that growth was seen across all the major segments of the company, and all segments posted double-digit growth against the same period of last year.

Exide Industries shares closed at ₹465.25 on the NSE on August 18, 2026, down 2.2% for the day.
Despite the fall on Tuesday, the stock has performed strongly over the longer term. The shares have gained around 28% so far this year. They are up about 6.5% over the past month and around 36% in the last six months.
The stock touched a 52-week high of ₹496.40 on August 11, 2026. Its 52-week low was ₹287, recorded on March 30, 2026.
As of August 18, 2026, Exide Industries had a market capitalisation of around ₹39,537.75 crore.
