State Bank of India reported a 10.23% year-on-year growth in net profit to ₹21,121 crore for the Q1FY27. The bank’s total business crossed ₹110 trillion during the quarter, with deposits and advances surpassing ₹60 trillion and ₹50 trillion respectively.
Profitability
Operating profit for the quarter grew 9.77% year-on-year to ₹33,529 crore, up sharply from ₹27,704 crore in Q4FY26 — a 21.03% quarter-on-quarter jump. Net Interest Income (NII) rose 14.88% YoY to ₹46,992 crore. The bank’s Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) stood at 1.11% and 17.87% respectively.
Domestic Net Interest Margin (NIM) improved 7 basis points sequentially to 3.00% in Q1FY27, while Whole Bank NIM rose 5 bps to 2.86% over Q4FY26.
Balance Sheet Growth
Whole Bank Advances grew 18.63% YoY to ₹50,47,222 crore, with Domestic Advances up 18.15%. Foreign Offices’ Advances grew 21.38% YoY in rupee terms and 9.97% in dollar terms.
Within domestic advances, RAM (Retail, Agriculture, MSME) segments posted double-digit growth across the board:
- Agri Advances: up 25.43% YoY
- SME Advances: up 22.33% YoY
- Retail Personal Advances: up 15.15% YoY (Home loans grew 12.75% YoY to ₹9,59,369 crore)
- Corporate Advances: up 18.05% YoY to ₹14,20,652 crore
On the liabilities side, Whole bank deposits grew 9.73% YoY to ₹60,05,805 crore. CASA deposits rose 9.30% YoY, though the CASA ratio slipped to 39.24%, down 12 bps YoY and 22 bps QoQ. Retail Term Deposits grew a healthy 14.39% YoY.
Asset Quality Improves
SBI’s asset quality showed further improvement, with the Gross NPA ratio declining to 1.47%, an improvement of 36 bps YoY. The Net NPA ratio improved 9 bps YoY to 0.38%.
The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR) stood at 74.20% (91.82% including AUCA). The Slippage Ratio improved 18 bps YoY to 0.57%, while Credit Cost for the quarter stood at 0.27%, unchanged from Q4FY26.
Loan loss provisions fell sharply by 31.92% YoY to ₹3,359 crore.
Capital Adequacy Strengthens
The bank’s Capital to Risk Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) improved to 15.67% as on June 30, 2026, up 104 bps YoY. CET-1 ratio rose to 12.89%, while the Tier-1 ratio stood at 13.90%.
Digital Push
SBI said more than 64% of savings bank (SB) accounts were opened digitally through its YONO platform during the quarter. The share of alternate channels in total transactions rose from approximately 98.6% in Q1FY26 to 98.8% in Q1FY27, underscoring the bank’s continued shift toward digital banking.
