Following the recent 25-basis-point repo rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), several major public and private sector banks have reduced their fixed deposit (FD) interest rates. The repo rate has been lowered from 5.50% to 5.25%, prompting banks like SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and Canara Bank to adjust their FD rates. While the changes make new FDs less attractive for general customers, senior citizens still receive higher interest rates.
