Perplexity has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with the United States government to bring its AI platform to all federal agencies.
According to the company, America’s public servants will now gain access to Perplexity’s enterprise-grade AI tools under a new collaboration with the General Services Administration (GSA). The agreement enables federal agencies to acquire Enterprise Pro for Government through GSA’s Multiple Award Schedule (MAS IT) at effectively no cost for up to 18 months, with long-term pricing commitments already established to ensure sustainability.
This development positions Perplexity as the first major AI company to secure a direct, government-wide contract. Aligned with President Trump’s AI Action Plan and GSA’s OneGov Strategy, the partnership aims to streamline the delivery of advanced AI capabilities across federal operations. Perplexity reports that tens of thousands of federal workers already use its products for tasks ranging from administrative workload reduction to supporting high-impact, mission-critical decisions. The new agreement allows agencies to deploy an enterprise-ready Perplexity edition directly at scale.
One of the central themes Perplexity highlights is choice. Government stakeholders have expressed concerns about vendor lock-in, model dependency, and limited information universes. In response, Enterprise Pro for Government includes access to multiple frontier AI models—Perplexity Sonar, GPT, Claude, and Gemini—paired with configurable information ecosystems such as Perplexity’s knowledge index and agency-specific data sources. The company’s model-agnostic approach is intended to give agencies flexibility, guarantee continuity, and reduce risk when model providers face availability or compliance challenges.
Security and compliance remain major pillars. Perplexity notes that in September 2025 it became the first—and currently only—publicly available AI platform offering secure-by-default protections for all federal users, even those without contracts. Enterprise Pro for Government is also one of just two services designated for AI Prioritization by the government, a status awarded through GSA’s objective criteria. This designation accelerates Perplexity’s FedRAMP authorization under the cloud-native 20x pathway, simplifying and speeding up adoption for agencies.
Perplexity states that it views this partnership as a way to support America’s continued success, acknowledging the nation’s role in enabling its own growth. The company expressed pride in supplying federal workers with tools designed to advance U.S. innovation and mission readiness.
