Kochi, 3 October 2025

Mumbai continues to have the most billionaires in India, with 451 individuals on the Hurun India Rich List 2025. As per the list, Mukesh Ambani and his family members are the richest in India once again, at a combined wealth of Rs 9.55 lakh crore. Gautam Adani and his family members follow closely at Rs 8.14 lakh crore. The top two spots in India’s wealth rankings are now a close race between these two big business families.

Last year, Gautam Adani was ahead of Mukesh Ambani, with a wealth of Rs 11 lakh crore, compared to Ambani’s Rs 10 lakh crore. However, both their fortunes have dropped this year, and Ambani has regained the top spot.

For the first time, Roshni Nadar Malhotra and her family have made it to the top three with a net worth of Rs 2.84 lakh crore, making her the richest Indian woman.

India’s billionaires are increasing rapidly. India now has more than 350 billionaires, six times the number when the list began 13 years ago. Combined, their wealth amounts to Rs 167 lakh crore, nearly half of India’s total GDP.

Younger businesspeople are also turning into billionaires. Perplexity’s founder, 31-year-old Aravind Srinivas, is now the youngest Indian billionaire with a net worth of Rs 21,190 crore. Zepto’s co-founder Kaivalya Vohra, 22, is the youngest on the list, and his business partner Aadit Palicha, 23, is also among the youngest.

Niraj Bajaj and his family experienced the most increase in their fortunes this year, rising by Rs 69,875 crore to Rs 2.33 lakh crore. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma is also a billionaire once again, with a fortune of Rs 15,930 crore after his firm’s share price appreciated by 124%.

Mumbai is still the city with the highest number of billionaires, followed by New Delhi at 223 and Bengaluru at 116. The pharma sector has the largest number of billionaires, followed by sectors such as chemicals and industrial goods.

Women billionaires are also emerging. There are 101 women billionaires in 2025, including 26 of them with wealth of more than a billion dollars. Two-thirds of the billionaires on the list (66%) are self-made, i.e., they created their fortunes by themselves.

A major shocker this year is that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has entered the billionaire’s club. His fortune stands at Rs 12,490 crore (approximately $1.4 billion) and takes him ahead of popular global celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Top 10 Indians Rich List in 2025:

  1. Mukesh Ambani & Family – Rs 9,55,410 crore
  1. Gautam Adani & Family – Rs 8,14,720 crore
  1. Roshni Nadar Malhotra & Family – Rs 2,84,120 crore
  1. Cyrus S Poonawalla & Family – Rs 2,46,460 crore
  1. Kumar Mangalam Birla & Family – Rs 2,32,850 crore
  1. Niraj Bajaj & Family – Rs 2,32,680 crore
  1. Dilip Shanghvi – Rs 2,30,560 crore
  1. Azim Premji & Family – Rs 2,21,250 crore
  1. Gopichand Hinduja & Family – Rs 1,85,310 crore
  1. Radhakishan Damani & Family – Rs 1,82,980 crore

India’s billionaires are increasing in count and wealth and making a huge contribution to the economy of the country.
