Apple has begun producing its new iPhone 17 series in India at full capacity. There are many factories in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka working overtime to fulfill high demand from the US, Europe, and India itself.

Five large factories in India manufacture iPhones today. They are Tata’s new facility in Hosur and Foxconn’s huge factory near the Bengaluru airport. These factories are manufacturing the iPhone 17 Pro and the standard iPhone 17 model. Tata’s Wistron facility in Karnataka and another factory in Tamil Nadu are also contributing to making the standard model.

Apple’s thinnest phone to date, iPhone Air, is produced by Foxconn in Sriperumbudur.

The majority of these phones will be exported to the US and Europe, but several will remain in India to cater to rising domestic demand. One of Foxconn’s recently set-up factories in Bengaluru is now India’s largest iPhone factory. It started trial production in April and is now the country’s highest-capacity plant.

These plants are also producing older models such as iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16.

India is becoming extremely crucial for Apple now. For the first time, Indian-made iPhones are going on sale globally on launch day. Previously, most early purchases originated from China. Now, almost half of all the US iPhones sold are being produced in India.

India shipped out 40 million smartphones in the first half of 2025, a 30% increase from last year. They were mostly iPhones. Exports picked up rapidly after new tariffs were announced by the US earlier this year. Apple shipped out more phones ahead of schedule to save on additional expense.

Experts indicate that exports to the US will increase even more in the second half of 2025. During the first half, 54% of Indian phone exports were to the US. That percentage might exceed 60% in the near future.

Despite the fact that the iPhone 17 is pricier than the iPhone 16, the demand continues to be good. Indian consumers use EMI, exchange, or bank offers to make it affordable for them.

Apple has never before provided as many models as it is now offering in India. In addition to the iPhone 17 series, it still has iPhone 14, 15, and 16 models available for sale. The new iPhone Air is also making headlines due to its lightweight design.

Apple is engaging with Indian governments to produce more components locally and expand its business in the country.
