Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, had recently addressed the employees at the company about its future plans, as reported by CNBC at a strategy meeting. This event was held on December 18, and executives – Pichai and some others were wearing holiday sweaters – presented their priorities for the next year.
Pichai called out 2025 as a “critical year for Google,” emphasizing how important it was. He said, “It’s really important we understand the urgency of this moment and move faster as a company. The stakes are high.”
The tech industry is currently investing significantly into artificial intelligence (AI). However, Pichai admitted that the company needed to catch up in some areas of AI development.
He mentioned Google’s AI model, Gemini, and stated that it has “strong momentum.” However, he does acknowledge that there is still some work to be done to close the gap and for Google to become a true leader in the AI space in 2025.
Pichai made it clear that scaling Gemini for consumers will be Google’s biggest goal next year. This shows that the company is focusing on improving its AI offerings in order to stay competitive with the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
In a nutshell, 2025 will be the year of Google as it looks to strengthen its position in AI and deliver better results for its users.
