Elon Musk has a firm named xAI, which deals in artificial intelligence (AI). On Thursday, xAI unveiled a new AI product that will assist in writing computer code rapidly and cheaply. This is the firm’s first significant foray into an emerging field of AI referred to as agentic coding.

An agentic coding model is a clever computer program that can do coding tasks independently. It can code, correct errors, and even know what type of program one wants to create. It simplifies things for individuals who construct software, applications, or websites.

The new model developed by xAI is named “grok-code-fast-1.” It has been planned to be fast, cheap, and simple to use. As per xAI, it performs well and doesn’t occupy a lot of space. Now, it is free for some time, but only to a select group of partners. These are GitHub Copilot and a firm named Windsurf.

xAI describes their tool as robust and versatile. It can be employed to fix common coding issues quickly and inexpensively. This makes it beneficial for most developers, students, and businesses that wish to save time and resources.

Similarly, other large businesses such as Microsoft and OpenAI are developing similar AI tools. Microsoft introduced a tool named GitHub Copilot to assist individuals in writing code. It was unveiled at a large developer event in May. Even the CEO of the company, Satya Nadella, announced that 20% to 30% of the code for Microsoft is now written through AI.

OpenAI itself, the creators of ChatGPT, also possess a coding tool named Codex that assists ChatGPT Plus users in writing code.

This indicates that agentic coding is becoming a huge aspect of the future. AI tools are not only used to answer questions, they can now assist in developing actual software.

Additionally, xAI is in the news for another reason. It has sued Apple and OpenAI in a U.S. court, alleging that they are collaborating unfairly and attempting to choke out other businesses like xAI from entering the AI market.

In short: Elon Musk’s xAI has developed an intelligent, quick, and affordable AI system to assist with computer programming. It’s a major foray into an expanding field where AI assists with making things easier and quicker.
