Indian IT services major Wipro on Friday said that its Chief Operating Officer, Amit Choudhary has resigned from the company with Sanjeev Jain, current global head of business operations named as his successor with immediate effect.
Choudhary is leaving the company to pursue opportunities outside the organisation, and his last day will be May 31 at the firm, the company said in an exchange filing.
“I would like to thank Amit for his leadership over the last two years and for building a strong operations foundation and structure that will be invaluable as we move forward. Amit will be with us until the end of May, working closely with Sanjeev and me to ensure a smooth transition,” said Srinivas Pallia, CEO of Wipro.
This is the second top-level executive from the firm within a span of one week. Earlier, Anis Chenchah, the chief executive of APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa) Strategic Market Unit (SMU) resigned from the company. These exits have come after new CEO Srinivas Pallia took the helm last month.
Both Chenchah and Choudhary joined Wipro when former CEO Thierry Delaporte was the CEO. These top executives had worked with Delaporte at the French IT consulting major Capgemini before joining Wipro.
Commenting on the appointment of Sanjeev Jain, Pallia said,” “In the short time that Sanjeev has been with Wipro, he has developed strong relationships with on-the-ground delivery teams and made a significant impact on our strategic thinking and execution prowess.
“Under his leadership, we’ve built out our approach to AI training and upskilling and trained over 225,000 of our people in AI principles. Sanjeev has also been instrumental in devising our career development strategy for next-gen associates and significantly enhancing our utilization. As COO, he will be responsible for continuing to simplify our operating model, building a client-centric delivery organization, and driving operational excellence with a focus on execution rigor and speed,” he added.
