Engineering services firm, Tata Elxsi, and IBM’s subsidiary, Red Hat have entered into an agreement to help telecom companies capitalise on new revenue streams and streamline operations in 5G networks and enterprises by simplifying application monetisation along with reduction operational costs.
The collaboration aims to develop a use-case factory that assists global operators in making money from their networks. This will be achieved by creating specific 5G applications for industries like transportation, manufacturing, and healthcare, using tested applications and joint solutions tailored to each industry.
As the automotive industry increasingly focuses on software-defined vehicles (SDV), there is a rising demand for secure, real-time OTA updates and containerised services via 5G networks. The collaboration helps telcos meet these needs of automotive manufacturers by integrating TETHER, Tata Elxsi’s global connected vehicle platform; NEURON, their network automation platform; Red Hat OpenShift, a leading hybrid cloud platform using Kubernetes; and Red Hat’s In-Vehicle Operating System. This combined solution allows manufacturers to offer subscription-based services and platforms for connected vehicles, including advanced fleet management and real-time OTA updates.
By combining Tata Elxsi NEURON with Red Hat OpenShift, telcos can achieve a significant transformation towards automated processes, cloud integration, service coordination, and strong assurance. This integration not only makes operations smoother but also cuts down on costs, leading to better efficiency and profitability in the telecom industry, the company said in a release.
NEURON, Tata Elxsi’s acclaimed solution, simplifies managing network components throughout their lifecycle. It orchestrates network deployments from start to finish, uses AI for proactive monitoring, and automates tasks to ensure smooth and secure network operations.
Commenting on this collaboration, Vivek Tiwari, Vice President, Telco 5G Business Unit of Tata Elxsi said, “As we embrace the era of telco 5G in Automotive, Healthcare & Industry 4.0, telcos are leading the way in creating customer-focused services and adopting new network technologies, that require a shift towards cloudification, hybrid/multi- cloud adoption (Red Hat as a uniform CaaS layer across Multi-cloud networks), DevSecOps, AI/MlOps & end-to-end automation. We are excited to enable this with Tata Elxsi and Red Hat together. We enable Telco 5G multi-cloud automation with edge analytics to deliver a distinctive service for our clients.”
