Swiggy is a leading food delivery company in India, which recently launched an in-app feature called Bolt. Through the Bolt service, clients will be able to get their favorite food from selected restaurants home-delivered within a mere 10 to 15 minutes. So far, the Bolt service is available in key cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and Pune.

Rohit Kapoor, the CEO of Swiggy, stated that Bolt is intended to make it even faster to deliver food. Ten years back, when Swiggy was launched, they ensured food arrived in about 30 minutes. Now, with Bolt, they are trying to take that time down even further on items people often order: coffee, burgers, ice cream, and biryani.

Bolt’s food places in Bengaluru include Wendy’s Burgers, Meghana Foods, Glen’s Bakehouse, KFC, McDonald’s and Starbucks. Local favorites are Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad and Anand Sweets in Bengaluru.

Another strong competitor of Swiggy, Zomato, has also made an effort with a 10-minute delivery service in 2022 in Gurgaon, but the same has not been sustained for that program. Rather, Zomato has ventured to another program called Zomato Everyday, under which a meal prepared by home cooks from central kitchens is delivered.

Another company that appears to offer a similar 10-minute delivery service is Zepto, and their offering is called Zepto Cafe. This company makes food and drinks ready-to-eat from small warehouses and delivers them. Coffee is a commodity, so it can be prepared in advance, and then simply heated before being shipped out. The same would be true for sandwiches.

Swiggy is getting ready to go for its initial public offering soon, a move that signals it is growing and expanding its services. The firm reported a gross order value of Rs6,808 crore in the last quarter. This was compared with Rs5,959 crore in the same period last year. The firm had about 14 million monthly customers in the April to June period.

With Bolt, Swiggy aims to create a much swifter and more hassle-free passage through which people order their favorite foods. This innovation may significantly change the amount of time taken to receive food while making it more apt for ordering in these key cities.
