Public sector steel major, Steel Authority of India (Sail) has said its Chairman and Managing Director, Amarendu Prakash, resigned from his position with effect from 1 April 2026, post approval from the Ministry of Steel.
The central government has given an additional charge of the CMD role to Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel) at SAIL. The interim arrangement will be in place for three months from 2 April to 1 July  2026—or until a regular appointment is made, whichever is earlier, the company said in an exchange filing.
“The Competent Authority has approved his resignation from the post of Chairman and Managing Director, Sail w.e.f. 1 April 2026. Accordingly, Amarendu Prakash, Chairman and Managing Director, Sail, has ceased to be a member of the Sail Board, w.e.f. 1 April 2026,” the regulatory filing said.
Prakash had taken over as Chairman of SAIL on 31 May 2023. Prior to that, he served as Director in charge of Bokaro Steel Plant and was appointed to the SAIL board in 2020.
The share price of SAILclosed Rs 154.40, down 0.91% on Thursday in NSE.
