Odisha, one of India’s richest mineral-bearing states, hosts 603 operational mines contributing significantly to the nation’s mineral output. The state’s annual production stands at 7,965,112 metric tonnes (MT), generating an impressive annual revenue of ₹2,020.71 crore. With vast reserves of iron ore, bauxite, coal, chromite and other key minerals, Odisha remains a cornerstone of India’s mining sector, driving both employment and regional development.
Industrial Backbone and Investment Strength
The state’s robust mining ecosystem is complemented by 98 steel industries, positioning Odisha as a leading hub for metal and mineral-based manufacturing. The total investment in the sector amounts to ₹1,37,156 crore, underscoring the confidence of both domestic and international investors in the region’s potential. This synergy between mining and steel industries has made Odisha a critical player in India’s industrial growth, supporting downstream industries and fueling infrastructure expansion across the country.
