Food aggregator platform, Swiggy said on Friday that it has launched ‘Eatlists’ – a ‘global- first’ feature in food delivery, that allows consumers to create their own ‘food playlist’.
According to the company, now users can bookmark their favourite dishes and save them under different ‘Eatlists’. They can also name their lists and share with friends and family directly through different social media platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram.
Food enthusiasts can also browse ‘Eatlists’ created by others if they have the link. This is the first time any food delivery platform has come up with such features. Consumers have already seen such features in other platforms like music aggregator, Spotify.
According to Swiggy’s in-app insights, 58% of users need help with indecision when selecting meals. Additionally, 68% of users rely on recommendations from friends and peers, navigating multiple platforms for reviews and orders, resulting in a ‘fragmented’ and ‘time-consuming’ process.
Through this new feature, decision-making on food selection is likely to be easier.
“Before social media and other digital channels, food was the original form of community building. Sharing meals brought people together. Eatlists brings the best of both worlds: the ability to create and share your food identity with the world while discovering new favourite dishes through thousands of Eatlists curated by fellow food lovers and experts, both in your city and beyond,” Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Food Marketplace Swiggy, said in a statement.
How to create ‘Eatlists’?
When you open the Swiggy mobile app for ordering food, you can see “Save to Eatlist” just below the ratings given to all the food items. When you tap on it, a pop-up will appear where you can create a new list or add the dish to any of the three suggested categories – “All time fav”, “Comfort Food”, and “Late night cravings”.
