Microsoft reported that it has acquired Osmos, an agentic AI data engineering platform designed to help simplify complex and time-consuming data workflows.
According to Microsoft, organizations today face a common challenge where data is widely distributed, but making it actionable remains manual, slow and costly. The company said Osmos applies agentic AI to convert raw data into analytics- and AI-ready assets within OneLake, the unified data lake that forms the core of Microsoft Fabric.
Microsoft stated that the acquisition aligns with Microsoft Fabric’s objective of enabling customers to unify data and analytics on a single, secure platform. The company added that the integration of Osmos supports its longer-term vision of autonomous AI agents working alongside people to reduce operational overhead and simplify how organizations connect, prepare, analyze and share data.
Looking ahead, Microsoft said the acquisition reinforces its focus on helping organizations unlock greater value from data with improved speed and simplicity. The company also confirmed that the Osmos team will join Microsoft’s Fabric engineering organization to support the development of more intuitive and AI-ready data experiences.
