Kochi, 4 July 2025

A fresh report by employment website Indeed reveals that IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) roles provide the best pay in India, regardless of how long you have worked.

You can earn as much as ₹28,600 per month if you are new to a tech career. If you have 5-7 years of experience, your pay can be as high as ₹68,900 per month.

This increase in pay is largely due to the immense demand for AI and digital-related work.

However, technology is not the only sector thriving. Manufacturing and telecom sectors are also experiencing good pay increases. Freshers in these sectors receive an average of ₹28,100 to ₹28,300 per month, while employees with 5-8 years of experience receive up to ₹68,200 per month.

In most sectors, entry-level positions (such as software development or HR engineering) typically provide monthly salaries between ₹25,000 and ₹30,500.

Product and project management jobs are the best paying. Individuals with 5 to 8 years of experience in these positions can receive up to ₹85,500 per month.

Another fascinating fact is that UI/UX design careers are now paying as much as other technology careers such as software development. The senior designers can make up to ₹65,000 per month.

The results are derived from the survey of 1,311 employers and 2,531 workers. The aim was to know the way wages are transforming post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Cities With the Fastest Salary Growth

Certain cities are now expanding more rapidly than the large metros. Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad are becoming emerging job hubs, with improved wage growth compared to the 15% average of the national rate.

Individuals are opting for cities where pay equates to the cost of living and provides career advancement. Based on Indeed, opportunities are expanding and not confined to places like Delhi or Mumbai alone.

Yet, most employees are still under some financial stress. Approximately 69% of the employees state that their income is insufficient to support their living expenses.

This sense is most prevalent in pricey cities such as Delhi (96%), Mumbai (95%), Pune (94%), and Bengaluru (93%).

Conversely, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata are considered cheaper, which provides a better proportion between earnings and everyday expenses.
