Indian IT services companies are likely to face disruption in business continuity in their US projects, which are being implemented at client sites as a result of H1B visa fee hike by the Trump administration, the Indian IT industry association, Nasscom said.
It also pointed out that technology innovation of American technology giants are expected to be affected adversely post such a move.
“While we are reviewing the finer details of the order, adjustments of this nature can potentially have ripple effects on US innovation ecosystem and the wider job economy. India’s IT services companies will also be impacted as business continuity will be disrupted for onshore projects,” Nasscom said in its reaction as the H1B visa hike sent shockwaves across Indian IT industry.
The industry body also raised the timeline of September 22 as a concern as it has created a lot of disruption among professionals and companies.
The Trump administration has announced to raise H1B visa application fee to USD 100,000 per annum for employer. This move is going to affect Indian IT industry and US technology giants adversely as they rely on Indian technology talent for executing complex technology work in the North American country.
“These (Indian IT) companies follow all necessary governance and compliance in the US for H-1B processes, pay the prevailing wages and contribute to the local economy via innovative partnerships with academia and startups,” Nasscom said. “The H-1B workers for these companies are by no means a threat to national security in the US,” it added.
