Iron ore exports from India fell by more than half in value terms in July 2025.
According to Indian government data, exports of iron ore fell by 63% to $86.83 million in July 2025 as compared to $234.51 million reported a year ago.
During April-July period, total exports of iron ore fell by 43.66% to $504.42 million as compared to $895.24 million a year ago.
This is despite the fact that iron ore prices are ruling at a higher range at the international market. Notably, iron price had touched more than $100 per tonne in July.
Industry experts are of the opinion that iron ore production usually goes down during monsoon season. Production in key producing states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and others gets affected due to monsoon rain.
