According to a new study by the Pew Research Center, close to half of U.S. teens are online “almost constantly.” The study has stated that 46% of teens spend a lot of time every day using the internet. The website most used by them happens to be YouTube. Roughly 90% say that they use YouTube, while approximately 73% visit it daily.

Some other popular social media sites that teens use are TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. About 60% of teens use TikTok and Instagram, and about 55% use Snapchat. These are very common among young people, and most teens check them many times throughout the day.

However, the study also displays that teen usage of Facebook has declined. Ten years ago, 71% of teens used Facebook. Today, only 32% use it. A whole lot has changed about how teens have been doing things in recent years. Facebook is no longer the favorite app for younger users.

Teens are also using X, formerly known as Twitter, much less than before. The study revealed that only 17% of teens say they use X, down from 33% ten years ago. Even more teens used X than last year when 23% of teens used the service. It shows that X is losing popularity among the young.

The study shows how quickly social media habits change. New platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat have become more popular among teens, while older platforms like Facebook and X are losing users. This change reflects how quickly social media trends shift. It also shows that teens often move on to the next big platform, leaving behind the ones that were popular in the past.

In conclusion, this research recognizes the significance of adaptation by companies of social media pertaining to the shift in interests by younger people, and their older counterparts must find new ways to maintain relevance as new ones rise.
