During the annual Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon launched the future smartphone processor, Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform. This new processor aims to bring powerful computer-like features to smartphones, aiming to improve the user experience regarding all sorts of applications.

Snapdragon 8 Elite features advanced technologies that include a second generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and improved Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, offering higher mobile performance and Generative AI capabilities in the high-end smartphones powered by Snapdragon.

Major smartphone brands that will roll out Snapdragon 8 Elite-based devices include ASUS, Honor, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, RealMe, Samsung, and Xiaomi. With this new platform, Xiaomi will make its first release of 15 Series flagship smartphones.

Qualcomm promises the user huge improvements with significant camera features, gaming performance, much better audio quality, and so much more. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is a TSMC advanced 3nm process product, which makes it yield a 45% increase in performance while using 27% less power as compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

This new platform will allow smartphones to understand voice, text, and images much better, making everyday tasks a little easier. For instance, Qualcomm’s Sensing Hub will make it possible for on-device AI assistants to give the user personalized recommendations based on the context in which he is using his device.

During the keynote presentation, Cristiano Amon said that Qualcomm is transforming and changing their processor generation over the past nine years, introducing a generation of AI-first experiences in the new Snapdragon.

The event also featured virtual appearances by tech leaders like Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman. They highlighted how Qualcomm processors support their AI initiatives.

Virtual appearances also came from tech leaders like Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman to elaborate how Qualcomm processors back their AI efforts.

This year’s summit greatly emphasized automotive technology. It addressed how cars are turning into computing spaces. Amon mentioned how Snapdragon Digital Chassis was built to work seamlessly despite the rapid changes happening in the auto industry.

According to Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President, Chris Patrick, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is coming to transform mobile experiences by bringing personalized and on-device generative AI to the fingertips. This promises easier and greater productivity and creativity, along with a guarantee of privacy for users.

Qualcomm is pushing boundaries into new horizons about what smartphones are able to do with Snapdragon 8 Elite – smarter and more powerful than anything before.
