Investors may get interested in purchasing shares of Tata Chemicals on Monday, August 31, upon opening the stock market after the latest news from the company concerning the North American segment.
The company has informed its shareholders that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tata Chemicals North America Inc. (TCNA), was declared the winner in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings of Searles Valley Minerals Inc. (SVM), an enterprise based in the USA.
According to the agreement, TCNA will acquire soda ash customer contracts in North America. The volume of soda ash included in the contract amounts to more than 500,000 metric tonnes. They will be served from September 2026 until December 2028.
These contracts are expected to bring in more than $110 million in revenue during their term. The transaction will enhance the position of TCNA on the North American soda ash market.
In addition, this transaction will give the opportunity for Tata Chemicals to expand its client portfolio in the region. It will allow the company to estimate future demand and establish long-term relations with clients.
TCNA entered into an Assignment and Assumption Agreement with Searles Valley Minerals on the sale of selected soda ash customer contracts and corresponding commercial rights. The proposed transaction has already obtained the necessary approvals by the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
As per the agreement, TCNA would make a payment of $21.16 million in cash towards the proposed transaction. However, the transaction needs to fulfill some closing conditions prior to its completion.
What the CEO Said?
R. Mukundan, CEO & MD of Tata Chemicals said that the acquisition of the contract was a significant move for the company to gain a position in the North American soda ash business.
As per Mr. R. Mukundan, the acquired contracts would guarantee demand for over 500,000 metric tonnes of soda ash and would contribute a revenue stream of more than $110 million till December 2028.
The deal will further assist the organization in creating robust relations with customers, gaining better visibility on demands, and ensuring provision of reliable products and services, as stated by Mukundan.
