One97 Communications, which is the parent organization of Paytm, has told investors that a business enterprise controlled by its founder and CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, will be selling a maximum 4.98% stake in Paytm.
Resilient Asset Management is an entity that belongs entirely to Vijay Shekhar Sharma. In a statement issued by Paytm, Resilient has decided to sell out their share. Paytm does not have any connection with this deal at all.
Calculating the current closing price of ₹1,502 per share of Paytm, the total deal size can go up to nearly ₹5,040 crore.
The stake sale has come after a sharp rise in the Paytm share prices. Shares of Paytm are currently trading at 54 months high. The stock has gone up over 70% from March. This is one of the best rallies for the company since its listing in the stock exchange. The rally has taken the market cap of the company to above ₹1 lakh crore mark.
The stake which is being sold by Resilient has been associated with an agreement which has been signed with Antfin in 2023. The Chinese affiliate, which was formerly the largest shareholder of Paytm, has transferred a large portion of its stake to Vijay Shekhar Sharma in 2023.
Resilient had invested about 10.20% of Paytm’s stock in form of an optionally convertible debenture. But the economic gains from the above investment continued to be with Antfin.
Paytm has assured that the above deal would not affect the shareholding of Vijay Shekhar Sharma and his family in the company.
Antfin has decreased its stake in Paytm over the past few years due to increasing scrutiny of Chinese stake in Indian financial technology firms by the Indian regulatory authorities. Antfin has completely divested its stake in Paytm in August 2025 after selling its last stake of 5.84%.
On the other hand, there has been an increase in the holdings by mutual funds in Paytm. In June 2026, the total holdings of 43 mutual funds in the firm stood at 18%, up from 16.60% in March.
Further, there has been an improvement in sentiment amongst brokerages towards Paytm. According to Bernstein, it increased its target price to ₹2,200 per share citing that Paytm stands to gain in case of higher fees being imposed on certain UPI transactions.
In addition, JM Financial increased its target price from ₹1,500 to ₹1,950, while maintaining its “Buy” rating. The reason behind is that there might be changes in the fee structure of UPI transaction in favor of Paytm, thereby improving its bottom-line going forward.
