The gold loan company Muthoot FinCorp has taken a major step towards listing itself as a public company. Muthoot FinCorp has submitted its DRHP with the Sebi to raise Rs. 3,000 crore by way of an IPO.
The company filed the IPO documents on August 12. In this IPO, the entire money is going to be raised by way of fresh issue. The company will not do any offer for sale (OFS). This means that the company will not make any sale of existing shares through this IPO. The company is planning to list its shares at the NSE and BSE.
The primary reason behind the IPO is the capital raise. Muthoot FinCorp is going to utilize the money raised from the IPO to improve its Tier-I capital which is one of the most important things in the financial strength of a financial company. The extra money will also help the company lend more in the future.
In the IPO plan, QIBs are allotted up to 50 percent of the shares while retail and non-institutional are going to be allotted up to 35 percent and 15 percent respectively.
Gold Loan Business is Their Core Business
Muthoot FinCorp was incorporated in the month of June 1997. It is the flagship entity of the Muthoot Pappachan Group. The company is an NBFC (non-banking financial company) whose core business revolves around gold loans.
The company caters primarily to households and small businesses. In addition to providing gold loans, it also offers various other financial products. These products include business loan, property loan, personal loan, housing loan, digital loan, and supply chain finance.
In addition to offering financial services, the company also deals in insurance, payments, savings, and other types of financial services.
Muthoot FinCorp enjoys a strong presence all across India. The company runs more than 3,800 branches, which include branches in semi-urban and rural locations as well.
Good Financial Performance
The financial performance of the company was significantly improved in FY26. The total income was increased by 32%, and amounted to ₹11,227.80 crore, as compared with ₹8,511.57 crore in FY25.
Profit after tax is also increasing significantly. In FY26 profit amounted to ₹1,847.62 crore, as compared with ₹607.99 crore in FY25.
With the help of this IPO, Muthoot FinCorp will be able to strengthen its financial position and grow further.
