Shiprocket, an e-commerce service platform that enables the management of shipping and related logistics for businesses operating online, will launch its Initial Public Offering (IPO) this Wednesday, August 12. The IPO will run for three days and close on August 14.
Prior to the launch of the IPO, Shiprocket managed to raise ₹727.41 crore from institutional investors, also referred to as anchor investors. Shiprocket allotted 7.5 crore shares to these anchor investors, each of them priced at ₹97, making it the highest IPO price band of Shiprocket.
The Shiprocket IPO has a value of ₹1,617.5 crore. It has been set a price band of ₹92 to ₹97. The IPO includes a fresh issue worth ₹885.50 crore and Offer for Sale (OFS), which has a value of up to ₹732 crore. The Offer for Sale entails the selling of shares by existing shareholders.
Shiprocket has reduced its IPO size compared to the previous size of ₹2,342.3 crore.
Around 75% of the shares are meant for Qualified Institutional Buyers, 15% for non-institutional investors, and 10% for retail investors. Shiprocket is planning to list its shares on the BSE and NSE on 19th August.
The company will utilize a significant portion of the proceeds generated by its IPO to enhance technology and create artificial intelligence. In addition, Shiprocket plans to develop AI-based systems that will allow merchants to run their operations easily through AI instructions. Further, the company plans to leverage AI in minimizing manual labor and saving time.
Once the company repays its debts, the major portion of the proceeds will be spent on expanding its existing business and technology.
Although Shiprocket primarily began as a shipping service, it has now developed into an entire e-commerce solution. The platform assists small businesses, startups, and direct-to-consumer brands with various services like shipping, order fulfillment, delivery, marketing, etc.
The firm has two primary areas of business – core business and emerging business. The emerging business sector of the firm comprises business services such as fulfillment, international shipping, advertising, business financing, and local delivery services.
Shiprocket seeks to become a full-fledged platform by relying on its powerful technology and extensive partner network.
