Shares of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited plunged sharply on Monday, May 18, falling as much as 8.77% to touch a 52-week low of ₹488.60 on the NSE. The decline came after UK-based Prudential plc announced plans to acquire a 75% stake in Bharti Life Insurance for ₹3,500 crore from Bharti Life Ventures Pvt Ltd and 360 ONE Asset Management. Investors reacted negatively amid concerns that Prudential’s increased focus on Bharti Life could alter its long-term commitment to the ICICI Prudential Life joint venture.
