OpenAI has launched a new business unit ‘OpenAI Deployment Company’ in its bid to help enterprises AI deployment. The subsidiary is well- capitalized with over $4 billion. In addition, OpenAI intends to acquire an AI consultancy firm called Tomoro to accelerate the development of the new venture.
Following the rapid success of the ChatGPT service as well as initial products offered by OpenAI, the company has started to make significant efforts in cooperation with major companies so that they could use the latter’s AI.
The newly founded company, majority-owned by OpenAI, has the name OpenAI Deployment Company. The entity will provide services for businesses related to the usage of AI. Engineers proficient in AI will be placed by OpenAI into these businesses where they will cooperate with companies’ teams to explore areas where AI is applicable.
In addition, OpenAI has agreed to buy Tomoro, a company specializing in developing solutions for using AI by other firms. The firm owns about 150 expert AI engineers and specialists.
Tomoro came up in 2023 and currently collaborates with numerous organizations such as Mattel, Red Bull, Tesco, and Virgin Atlantic.
In response, it needs to be mentioned that OpenAI’s decision occurs against the background of the successful development of another corporation dealing with artificial intelligence. Specifically, various business organizations adopt the AI models of another business, called Anthropic and referred to as Claude.
Thus, the launch of a new OpenAI deployment company represents a long-term project. In particular, it includes 19 companies and is headed by TPG with the involvement of Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as partners.
The purpose of the project is to assist organizations with using AI tools in their operations in the most effective way. Thus, in this case, OpenAI tries to ensure that AI is implemented in places where it can create maximum positive results for businesses.
Specifically, OpenAI aims to make AI a typical feature of business operations rather than an everyday tool used by consumers. The presence of specialists and engineers within companies will help speed up this process.
To conclude, OpenAI invests billions of dollars, buys a company, and develops a team of professionals to promote AI among companies.
